The Music

Biography: The Music and the Artist.


                       Fossil Oregon

   Many people have asked Sean how he learned to play this music, so at thier request, this is his story.

   In his Home town of Fossil Oregon Sean began to play the panflute when he was only 5 years old but immediately began to show an uncommon skill for the instrument. By the age of  10 he already had a repertoire of classical music.

   Around that same time he was introduced to the Traditional Music of the Andes by his grandfather who already had a great appreciation for that music. Filled with inspiration from his grandfather and the high desert surroundings he comes from he found new expression through this Music.

   After learning to play Andean Music on the Panflute,, Sean’s Brother Philip began to learn Charango (a small 10 stringed instrument from the Andes). They immediately began to play as a duo,, and later joined by a friend (Robert Braxton) the first group was born. This first group called Los tres Amigos and then later renamed to Achichakpa (Mayan for: where the water flows) Had good success for 2 years, but due to other pursuits the group separated.

Shortly there after Sean met Benjamin Sandivar,, a guitarist from Bolivia who invited him to travel to Bolivia. Sean accepted his invitation and went to Bolivia and after living there a few months he met other friends one of whom was Jose Luis Barron, with whom he bagan to make plans to form a new group. After joining with other friends Roos Emanuel Hernandez, Misael Hernandez, Luz Ecos and Obed Ecos, the group Wiñay Pacha was Born in the year 2000.

   Sean met his Wife in Bolivia,, and upon finding that he was going to be a father,, they both decided to move back to his native country in 2003 to have thier daughter born there. Since then him and his family have lived in Portland Oregon USA. The rest of the members of Wiñay Pacha remained in Bolivia and again due to other pursuits the group seperated in 2005.
   Meanwhile Sean, still performing under the group name Wiñay Pacha, Had continued as a soloist, playing traditional Andean Music by playing Panflute,, and accompanying himself on Guitar.
                                   
                                                Playing Solo
  
   After Playing like this for 3 years, Sean began to explore new ways to play as a soloist,, and began to experiment with World Music (with heavy influence from traditional Andean Music). His first songs were so well accepted that he decided to concentrate more on this new style,, he started to call his new soloist act,, Beautiful Flute and immediatly began to record new songs, the product of wich are his 2 newest CD's, Forgotten Dream and Mountain Winds. He also occasionally performs with Alex LLumiquinga, a member of an Ecuadorian group called Chayag,, who lives in the USA. 

Sean can be seen playing regularly in the Portland Area.
